Something this beautiful should never be at home alone! A sad moment beautifully expressed. What kind of swan is this?
Pat
Thank you. This is the Black Swan.
Black Swans are not migratory. They spend their whole life in the area were they were born. This is an amazing nest. This swan built a nest LITERALLY 10 steps away from
the statue of Budda in Boydo In temple in Hawaii.
If I were in Hawaii I wouldn't migrate either. Never have seen one, it's beautiful!! Thank you!
From what I've read these are Australian birds and they are endangered. Thank you.
excellent haiku and a gorgeous shot!
there is a pair of black swans in an arboretum close to where i live, and they are beautiful.

Thank you.
I was stunned when I came to see the temple where these graceful birds were quietly going on with thier lives completely oblivious of the fact that hundreds of people passed by their nest at the feet of golden Budda.
this is the first time that I saw this one I think --- beautiful --- I love the way that "the moon falls through the moon"
Andrew
Thank you for your kind words.
I was absolutely charmed by this swan.
Black is beautiful. Moon is feminine.
'LITERALLY 10 steps away from
the statue of Budda'. Interpeting a comment: For the non-migratory black swan there are 10 steps to reaching Budda nature? Wonder whether I'm a black swan or an ugly duckling...?
Borut
Thank you for such a poetic comment. Judging by your poetry - a swan:) When I was a child in Russia there was a beautiful cartoon based on this fairy tale.
Lovely haiku!
